Nathaniel who?

I wanted to post this story from our first doctor's visit with Nathaniel this Monday. GaGa was here and able to watch Nick for us, so Matt and I took Nate to his appointment. We signed in, handed in our paperwork, and started to talk and get into our conversation in the waiting room (again, when do we really have the time to talk together alone without a 3-year old interrupting every second?). We were talking for a while and the nurse came out and called "Nathaniel." We didn't pay any attention. She continued to call "Nathaniel," and it wasn't until the 3rd time she called his name and the other moms giving us funny looks that we realized, "Oh, that's us-- we do have a son named Nathaniel now don't we??"

Love you all so much!

Nathaniel at 1-week old!

Nathaniel is one week old. He is a very good baby. Nick is being a very helpful big brother, and Nate seems to love him unconditionally already.

Nate does not have red hair. This happened with pics of Nicholas too. His skin gets red and when combined with his blond hair, it looks like red hair.

Brothers bonding already!!

Watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

What's up everybody!

Side view of the cheeks and chins!

First smiles are starting!

Nate's cookie bouquet from Auntie Crista, Auntie Cara, and Uncle Brian.
Thanks guys, we love them!! (sorry Nate, we will be eating these for you!!)

Just the Three of Us

So it is our last day as just the three of us. Mommy's a little sentimental.

We are heading to the hospital tomorrow at 6 AM. Please keep me in your prayers for a safe and FAST delivery!!!!

On a humorous note, Matt and I went out to dinner last night. Kind of like our last date for a while. First, we get to Chili's and they try to put us in a small booth. Matt fit in it, I did not. They needed to give us a table :) Second, we went to Sam's just to walk around in the A/C to try and jump start this labor (of course it didn't work). But on our way in, the greeter asked if I wanted a motorized wheelchair cart. So, I must be huge and ready to pop!

We will let you know when Nathaniel (Nate) makes his arrival tomorrow.

And the baby's name is...

Watch this short video and then scroll down!

Yes, the baby's name is Nathaniel Edward Fine. We don't plan on calling him that too often, except when he is in trouble. His nickname will be Nate. Nicholas and Nathaniel. Nick and Nate. How cute is that? Like the greats-- Peyton and Eli Manning and Matt and Tim Hasselback, there will someday be Nick and Nate Fine.

Daddy Turns 31 (and no baby yet)!

We started at 6:30 AM (note Nick's hair).
Nicholas was way excited to help Daddy open presents and cards!

Notice Nicholas's artwork on the envelope.

A present from Nicholas to Daddy.
Daddy's time outs would be very different from Nick's!

Mommy and Nick made the cake.
Nicholas was the boss, Mommy was the decorator!

Nicholas helps Daddy blow out his candles!

Nick gets the first bite (mind you, this is our afternoon snack!)

Nick's new present, a water table for the backyard.
(Thank you to a mom in my MOMS Club whose kid outgrew it! We love hand me downs!)

Daddy and Nick sporting their cool shirts at Red Robin.

Did you want any of this Daddy, because I am not sure I will give you any!!

It was a great birthday for Daddy (we hope). We love you Daddy. There is still no baby- will see dr. today and see if we are still inducing on the 21st. Love you guys! Thank you for all your prayers!

Nick Screams for Ice Cream

Nicholas made ice cream with Mommy last week. It was so yummy. He picked "Cookies and Cream," and I am pretty sure he enjoyed crushing the Oreos with a meat mallet as his favorite part!

Mommy is letting me bang with a hammer? Wow!

Pouring it in the mixer.

Watching it get thicker!

We went to our 37 week appt. today.

We had an ultrasound- baby is approx. 7 lbs. 9 ozs. and is in the 90th percentile, measuring at 38 weeks. I thought that meant we could get this done sooner than later, but no, the induction is tentatively scheduled for 8/21. Two more weeks. Ugh! I am half delirious from not sleeping no matter what I do (I just cannot drift off, and when I finally do, I have to pee!!) I know everyone goes through this at the end, and I just keep telling myself to get through it. So, unless Baby Fine decides to do this on his own, August 21st should be his birthday...

We are really enjoying spending this time with Nicholas before our whole life changes- a baby for all of us and preschool for Nicholas. It is kind of sad to say goodbye to it being the three of us, but I know once we have this baby, we won't remember what it was like when it was "just the three of us." So we better savor these last days, shouldn't we??

On a side note, is this mess with Brett Favre not just so pathetic? I respected the man as one of the best quarterbacks of our time, and now I am just disgusted looking at him. The Jets must be thrilled but I wouldn't start jumping up and down yet kids.

Ok, enough of that. Will keep you updated! Love you all!
