Providence Zoo

We seem to love zoos everywhere we move, so we became members of the Providence Zoo and went two times in the past month. Come visit and see for yourself!

Elephants

Giraffes

Penguins

Nate.... he belongs in a zoo!  They have a great water play area and both boys love it!

Running through the sprinkles!

Nick enjoying the water tubes and figuring out how to connect them.

Tire swing!

Zebras

The second time we visited with our friends, we got to see the elephants get a bath!

They have lived at the zoo for over 20 years.  Look at he lies down for his bath!

Our new buddies- Allison, Matthew, and Katelynn

These guys all belong in the zoo!

Kids' Race

The boys completed their first race Saturday. It was a half mile and was for the local hospital. They both did great. They can't wait until their next one and want it to be longer.

First Day of School in Rhode Island!

Nick started second grade (yes, you heard me right, SECOND GRADE!!) on August 28th. Today he asked if every week would be a four day week since he started on a Tuesday, then we had off for Labor Day last week, and tomorrow the school is closed for a primary election. I assured him that a five day week was coming soon :)
Our big second grader

The backpack keeps getting heavier!

His head looks more and more like Matt's everyday! :)

As most of you know, I was a nervous wreck for Nate starting school since school wasn't his favorite place last year.  This year, he barely could kiss me goodbye fast enough and he has made friends and has even talked to his teachers :)  Nate goes to preschool three mornings a week!  He is very proud.

Nate and his "sail" for his "sailboat" on the bulletin board.  Dots and Star Wars stickers!

Our little preschooler!

Thanks Miss Dana and Ryan for my awesome Spidey backpack.

Seriously, another cheese??!!

All smiles and ready to go!

A celebration ice cream trip after a very good first morning!  Go Nate!

Coggeshall Farm Museum in Bristol

Last Saturday, we went to Bristol to work on a farm. There is a living farm museum there called Coggeshall Farm where the kids got to get up close and personal with lots of animals and farm life in the style of the late 1800's. I was a little freaked :) They had a great time and I am so glad we did this while we were here!
Ready to work!

Gathering firewood for Johnnycakes

Nick tried to get as much as he could!

Watching the Johnnycakes being made

Nick and the egg basket

The head rooster

A turkey!

Nate got to go in the henhouse first, but after, all the kids went and looked through the hay for eggs.

Check me out Mom and Dad!

Taking the hay to the manger for the bull

Nick and Nate asking lots of questions about the sheep

The bull, OMG!
Brushing the bull

What?  I like brushing the bull!

The chickens were so tame...

.... as you can see!

What a day, I'm pooped!
