First Little Snow

This is our third winter here and we are thankful for the little snow this year. LITTLE, not huge snowstorms, like the last two. Here are some pics from the last day in the snow.

Nick and I had a mother/son night at his elementary school. We had a bunch of fun and we played t-ball in the gym. The score was TIED at the end. Here are the two teams :)

I am so blessed that I simply don't have time to blog about my children anymore. They fill my life with so much busy and for that I am thankful. I will have pictures from Christmas up soon, but here is our Santa picture from this year. Could it be any more perfect? The look of wonder in both of them is captured beautifully. This Christmas was wonderful. I promise to post more soon. We hope your New Year has been filled with happy.

We went into New York yesterday to celebrate the beginning of the season. We had a wonderful time. There is nothing like NYC at Christmas.

We walked down 5th Avenue seeing all of the window displays but the biggest hit was finally getting to see the NYC Library. We went inside and looked around but decided we are making a separate trip back to see the Children's Room.

Well Hurricane Irene made her mark here in New Jersey. We made it through and can finally share Nate's birthday pictures with you. It will take me a few days, but here are a few of the birthday boy. Every morning he asks me, "Mommy, am I still 3?" He wants his next birthday party to come so badly, but I am certainly not ready to have him turn 4.

We made pretzels a couple days before Nate's birthday.... Mommy made Nate a number 3.

We have lots of friends coming to visit this month. First, we had our cousins Chris and Tony visit because they are moving to NJ with the Coast Guard. We are so excited for them to be "Jersey Fresh" with us. We also got to go to Sesame Place with our cousin John (who we have to stop calling Baby John because he is almost as tall as Nate) for his very first encounter with big furry friends. Finally, we got to go make our own pizzas today at Chicago Uno. More friends come to stay tonight so stay tuned for more fun! XOXO

After Nicholas's graduation on Tuesday, we stopped in Atlantic City on the way back. Nate had a red lollipop. Hence the following pictures.

Vacation Day One

There are so many pictures to post from our vacation that I will be taking it one day at a time.

If you haven't been to Ocean City, NJ and you have kids and want the easiest vacation ever, you should give it a try. It is truly a magical place on the Jersey shore.

This year, both Matt's parents and my mom vacationed with us and we all had a great time together.

Kindergarten Is Over

We simply cannot believe that kindergarten is over for Nicholas. He had his final performance last Wednesday. All the kids had a line to say and sixteen songs to sing. Nicholas's line was "Like our teachers say, we are a family, a special school family." Here he is with his kindergarten family; they were such a special bunch.

Saturday began Nicholas's birthday festivities after his Friday birthday lunch the day before. We celebrated with our neighbors with a block BBQ. Everyone had a great time.

Instead of a big party, we went away as a family to the Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos. We had a wonderful time. Nicholas has a new set of permanent tubes in his ears so he has to wear earplugs and a headband. I think he looks awfully cute. Here are some pics from the fun we had.

Nicholas celebrated his birthday last Tuesday at school. He was so proud to have Nate in the classroom with him- he got him a chair right away and made sure he was right next to him when everyone sang. He chose to have Yoshi cupcakes (a character from Super Mario Brothers) and thank goodness our dear friend Michelle made them for us.

I am way behind!! Here is our pictures from Easter Weekend. Aunt Annie, Gaga, Sophia, and Uncle Rob left Saturday morning. We had an Easter Egg Hunt with our wonderful neighbors that night before the Easter Egg Hunt Sunday morning. We were lucky to spend Easter with Aunt Francesca and Baby John, Aunt Catherine and Uncle Mark, and Aunt Gen and Cousin Patty. It was a fun and busy weekend.

Happy St. Patrick's- A Week Late!

So I am only a week late in posting our St. Patrick's Day festivities. Better late than never. I have a video but it is very long and I am having a difficult time uploading. Will keep trying because it is so funny!

The leprechauns came. The house was a mess. Boys had fun. Mommy was tired. See pictures below :)

Nicholas left the leprechauns lots of drawings and notes taped to the wall by his trap. His notes say "Please bring me a pot of gold or anything else." It was hysterical!

Nick came home from school on Friday all excited because his teacher told him to create a leprechaun trap. That was all he wanted to do for the entire day. We had dinner with friends that night and his friend also created her leprechaun trap. It has all the kindergarten kids in a tizzy, and it is so hysterical to watch them run to the trap to check. We have been having leprechauns come and trick us lately so watch out!! This video is so funny! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We joined the Philly Zoo on Saturday. It was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed getting to see all the animals. Since Nate hasn't gone to the zoo since we left Virginia, it was fun to see his reaction and responses to all the animals. I will post videos later. Here are some pictures.

Where did February Go?

As you can see from my posts, we certainly have been busy. February was a crazy month and we were plagued with terrible illnesses. Most of our special days at school wound up being spent at home but we had fun anyway.... here is our month in pictures.

Nicholas lost his first tooth tonight. We were at the dentist yesterday afternoon and Dr. Andy said we had a while until it came out. I guess he did something, because Nick's tooth fell out as we were making banana chocolate chip muffins. I was not ready for this; we don't even have a tooth fairy pillow. I also wasn't ready as a mommy; this was a very bittersweet day! No matter what, it is a milestone. Happy Lost my First Tooth Day Nicholas!

January is almost gone, and I cannot believe that we are already a month past Christmas!! I am still getting used to writing 2011 on things and will be for the next year until 2012. Snow has come and gone already, but let's remember that February was the snowiest month last year. Here is our month in pictures.

Christmas has come.....

.... and so has the snow! I am posting round one of our Christmas pictures. We had a rough week with Nicholas who began with an ear infection and then a sinus infection (you will see evidence in many of the pictures!). On Christmas Eve, he spiked a fever and I got stronger antibiotics for him. Luckily, he was better by Christmas morning but didn't get to go to mass on Christmas Eve. With even more luck, Nate did not get sick. We are lucky to have Gaga Maresca and Gaga and Papa all with us. We had a lovely holiday and are now stuck inside playing with our toys. Merry Christmas everyone!

The Cutest Baby Ever...

This is going to be a very long post because we just spent a week with the cutest baby ever. Our little goddaughter, Sophia, has grown so much and is the sweetest and happiest baby since my babies :) We had a great time in Florida visiting with our family and celebrating both Christmas and her baptism.

Last Friday, we went into Miami for Santa's Enchanted Forest. If you haven't been, it is a display of lights, rides, and other exciting fair offerings and it is right up any kids alley!

Thanksgiving Weekend

On November 22, the day after we saw Thomas, Nick turned 5 1/2. My kids love their birthdays, and who doesn't? So I thought we would have a "halfway" celebration with a "half cake." It was a huge hit. Nick's 5 1/2 half cake!

We had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. We made Thanksgiving dinner for just the four of us for the first time in 5 years. Matt did the turkey and I did all the sides. We kept it simple and it was so nice to have leftovers. We put up our tree and decorated the house for Christmas. We love this time of year- we have 5 different Advent calendars (don't ask- we have all different types!) and an Advent wreath. We are ready to countdown to Christmas!

We have been to many events this week for Halloween, but the big day was finally here. The kids carved their pumpkin last night after Mass, and today, we made pumpkin seeds and pumpkin chicken soup (yes, chicken soup roasted in a pumpkin at 350 degrees for 90 minutes... delicious!!). Then, off we went to trick or treat! What a great Halloween week!

Last night was our MOMS Club Trunk or Treat. Every mom decorates their trunk and brings a treat, and the kids parade from trunk to trunk getting their treat. So much fun. Nate's First Class Party

Nate's co-op preschool (we all take turns leading the lesson each week) had a Halloween party on Wednesday, and it was his first official class party! He stuffed all his treat bags and was ready to party when we left the house! He was adorable and we had a great time together!

Nate at the Pumpkin Patch

Nate and I went on his first class field trip this past Wednesday to the pumpkin patch for a hayride. It was a lovely time for just him and I. I remembered Nicholas's first class trip to the pumpkin patch and how I went with him too. I am so lucky to stay home with these boys and watch them experience all of their "firsts" and all the in betweens. I love seeing them grow, but with Nate, I am praying time can just stand still. It is hard knowing he is my last "little." With each day that passes, I want to freeze him at two and not let him get one day older.

October is Fire Safety Month

Fire Safety Week was celebrated both at school and at home for our boys. Nick had many questions after the firefighters visited his school, so we planned our "meeting place" and "escape plan" immediately.
